Publica and ASB Classic teamed up to make the 2020 tournament a first class online experience.
First on the mark, a refresh of the back-end opened up content and capabilities that were previously locked down to the in-house marketing team. More flexibility means better self-management, making ASB Classic the masters of their own content.
Come tournament time, the website was to play its part as a key information channel for a range of audiences. Working closely to the requirements of two independent, international governing bodies (ATP and WTA), the ASB Classic platform needed to be compliant throughout the course of the tournament by displaying timely and accurate gameplay information.
While the tournament audience were following the ball from left to right (and left again), the Publica team had their attention firmly placed on screen. Managing an API feed that reports on the draws, schedules, live scoring, and the final results, means a lot of moving parts – Publica were on board to smooth out any integration issues and to reduce downtime as much as possible.
In support of the devastating Australian bushfires burning at the time, we worked quick to set up a dedicated page for raising money and support for our trans-Tasman friends.
Echoing the success of the event, the website has been a winner for the tournament team.
