Powerbase’s Marketplace

Powerbase is the number one electrical group operating nationwide. Their magazine Marketplace features a comprehensive range of electrical products from leading international and local suppliers which is released bi-monthly and distributed to contractors in the electrical trade.

Publica was first introduced to the magazine back in January 2013 when we were asked to be involved in the design of the front cover and insert cover. Our mission was to make the covers more creative, dynamic, bold and eye-catching than ever before.

After five successful issues, Powerbase asked Publica to take over the whole production of the magazine. This involved not only the design and layout of the whole magazine and insert, but also preparing the magazine for print and web and producing accompanying elements, such as posters, deals inserts, and promotional flyers.

The well-organised team at Powerbase provide timelines and page layouts to keep everyone up to date on deadlines and changes along the way, which makes the production of the magazine run pretty smoothly. The only issue we face each edition is the restrictions around promoting the big events that Marketplace readers can win tickets to, such as The Bledisloe Cup or State of Origin. In most cases, our job is to come up with creative designs that tell the reader which event it is without actually saying it, which is always a challenge.
