A Brand To Celebrate The Written & Spoken Word.


The Brief

Create an engaging, multimedia branded experience to promote the WORD Christchurch Writers and Readers Festival 2014.


What We Did

As creative sponsors of WORD Christchurch, Publica created a brand, program collateral and a website for the event. Our creative solution had to have a contemporary feel, edgy enough to draw in a younger audience without excluding their existing market. We used a quotation mark and speech bubble throughout our design to represent all the writing, reading and speaker aspects of the event, keeping design styles consistent throughout the collateral and website.


The Outcome

Following the event rebrand WORD Christchurch hit the ground running in comparison to prior years, selling out of tickets for many of the events and attracting a wide variety of audiences. Marianne Hargreaves stated in an interview with Booksellers NZ, “We are very happy with the result, which is clean and easy to follow.” In an article by The Press, it was further noted WORD Christchurch was a great example of an event “doing it’s own bit for cultural regeneration.”
